Early Access, Pre-orders & DLC... Watch Dogs Review...

The games industry has changed in many major ways over the past few years and one of the most major changes are the large amounts for games being released unfinished or broken.

The subject is one that has divided many people from the many Internet communities to the point were some developers are thinking it is acceptable to release an extremely unfinished or damaged game and some gamers are willing to defend a game that is a blatant rip off and equates to stealing you money from your wallet...

There needs to be a universal understanding by everyone from developers to all gamers that early access/ alpha/beta and every other term used for unfinished/ in-development games does NOT mean its immune from negative criticism, critique & review.  If a game is not fit for use or is broken to the point you can't play then it should not be sold to anyone or should be fixed asap...

Early access can be a great tool when used properly like in the case of Space Engineers that have been updating the game each week and working with the community to expand an already playable and enjoyable game. But there have been many cases were developers have hit early access with a disappointing game, taken the money and then left it to rot in the pile along with the thousands of other poor quality games...

One major problem that the games industry faces is the build up and hype of games as it can kill a game if it does not live up to the high expectations of gamers. It works on both ends of the scale with developers building up "high end cinematic previews" only to deliver an inferior product on release and gamers must not build up their expectations for future releases as it will always end in tears. The games industry is very volatile at times and there are many underhand tactics from developers, games press and gamers themselves that cause many issues for everyone and can cause damage to the games industry in the long term.

I have pre-ordered Watch Dogs Dedsec Edition as part of an experiment were I am going to evaluate if it is worth the the price and if it adds to the experience of the game and its overall playability. I am going to be writing up a full review of Watch Dogs and releasing some video to go along with the full review that will be posted on this blog.

Question of the day:
What is your opinion on  Early Access, Pre-orders & DLC?

Thanks for reading and supporting the blog.
